I think I have some inkling of an understanding now as to why it takes MONTHS to edit a feature-length film. Here, I have a 7 1/2 minute video I’m working on. It started out as about 1 1/2 hours of raw footage. And it’s taken me a good 6 to 8 hours just to get to this point, and there’s a lot of work left to do.
Granted, at least half that time was figuring out how to get certain things to work (cinematic black bars, color grading, picture-in-picture), but still, the slicing, dicing, and other edits all take time.
And I still have music to find and other edits to complete before it’ll be ready to post to YouTube.
So, here’s a shoutout to all the video editors out there taking hours of footage and wrangling it down to the finished product!
